Back To School In MN, Drivers Advised To Be Cautious

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 at 5:58 am

Well it’s back to school today for public school students in our Minnesota listening area. Local officials have asked us to remind the public that children will be out much earlier in the morning than they are during the summer months. If you are driving this morning be especially vigilant to avoid distracted driving and pay attention to the roadway. School zones will be strictly enforced as well, so adhere to marked speed limits and allow children in the crosswalk to cross before proceeding. It’s wise to allow a few extra minutes to make your morning commute as to not feel rushed.

Younger students can often appear seemingly out of nowhere from behind a parked car or around a blind corner. Also, when a bus is stopped with flashing red lights you can not pass it. Stay back, be patient, and wait for it to move again before proceeding.

Please be mindful that school is back in session today and students will be out.
