WCMP Tours Pine County Jail (4 Videos)

Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at 7:07 am

On Monday, Aug. 27, WCMP was allowed to bring cameras into the Pine County Jail on a guided tour by Sheriff Robin Cole. We weren’t allowed to take pictures or video of any of the prisoners, but otherwise were shown the facility from top to bottom.

When prisoners are brought in they can be placed in this decontamination room (below) for a time if they are covered in something toxic. If not, they are brought in, patted down, photographed and possibly tested for blood alcohol levels depending on the situation. They can then be placed in a holding cell after booking.

Prisoners are given a very small number of items to use on a daily basis. Cooperative prisoners can then be placed in this general population room while unruly prisoners maybe put by themselves.

Inside the Master Control room, which is located back by the three different units used to house prisoners of all different types of classifications. Cole explains in the video below.

The current facility allows the housing of all inmates just a short elevator ride from where they need to go to see the judge.

I am impressed with our Pine County Jail and its operation. I hope the citizens appreciate this facility and the board does not cut operation funds any time soon. We should be proud of this in our county and support Sheriff Cole and the facility in general. Thanks for the good videos.
