Officials Recover Body Of Missing Danbury Girl

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012 at 8:14 pm

Officials have found the body of a missing 3-year old girl in a canal near her home in Burnett County. As we reported earlier in the day, Reena Mae Williams went missing near her home in Danbury on Tuesday night at about 7pm.

Burnett County officials have reported to multiple media outlets that the body of Reena Williams was found at about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday about 25 yards from her home in Danbury. At a press conference earlier this evening, officials thanked the hundreds of volunteers who searched for Reena.

The girl disappeared after apparently wandering away from her home.

Burnett County Sheriff Dean Roland says it’s an open investigation, but right now it is being treated as a missing person case.

Officials say they will drain the canal for any clues.

Officials say grief counselors are helping the Williams’ family. An autopsy is planned.

I tuned into this story without seeing the initial info on the missing girl and WEAU TV Eau Claire showed the girl with no shirt on a long purple Mardi Gras necklace full adult makeup and curled and styled hair. I just got a very strange feeling about the whole thing, what kind of parents would do a 3 yo child up like that and take her picture 1/2 naked? Did they not have another one readily available that was more appropriate? After the girl was found every news outlet was showing a more age appropriate pic with no makeup and fully clothed. And how did the dad not know where his 3 yo daughter was? Why wasn’t mom crying her eyes out? Why didn’t dad go on tv? I may just too jaded, but it sure seems like something is very wrong with this whole picture. Would you ever let your little 3 yo child go unsupervised outside if you lived by water? I pray this was truly an awful accident, if not, look at these parents either way they should be charged.

Even if these parents did make some bad choices or decisions, which you are not completely sure of, you’re not even completely sure that they released that picture. . . maybe a friend or family member did; who are you to pass judgment and make these parents feel even worse. They lost their daughter, show some respect and keep your comments to yourself.

I prayed this little girl would be found unharmed. What a tragic end to this story. I can not imagine what her parents are going through, nothing is worse than loosing a child. I hope they can find peace and comfort to someday heal. Heaven has a beautiful angel, who was taken too soon. :-(

Susan, I had the first initial feelings about the makeup as well, but only hope & pray that this was only an accident. I pray for this little innocent girl, that she is in the arms of angels. My heart goes out to her family.
