Coach Polzine Talks About Dragons Football As Fall Practices Begin (Audio)
Many local high school football teams began fall practices on Monday as they preapare for the 2012 season. In Pine City, head coach Jared Polzine had his players hit the field for a helmets-only session from 8am to noon.
Polzine is entering his fourth year as the Dragons varsity coach, and he’s really looking for some of his unproven players to show flashes over the next two weeks. These practices are leading up to the team scrimmage on Saturday, Aug 25. Polzine acknowledged that this is the most inexperienced team he’s ever coached at Pine City, and he said the team will need to have some players step to the forefront. He’s got only two full-time returning starters from last year’s team, and a third player who started a good portion of the 2011 season.
Polzine also noted that the senior class this year is a bit smaller than in years past, so underclassmen will also be given a great chance to contribute for the Dragons in 2012. Our Jesse Logan interviewed coach Polzine on Monday.
