The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has determined that Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties have sufficient enough damage to help fund the disaster that took place in June. Included is the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

The declaration made by FEMA now allows local governments to apply for aid in their respective communities.  The money will mostly help pay for infrastructure damage, which was verified to be at more than $8.6 million.

FEMA will provide 75 percent of eligible cost. State and local agencies will pay for 12.5 percent.
