Walker Files For Federal Aid

Friday, July 27th, 2012 at 8:18 am

After Wisconsin governor Scott Walker toured much of Wisconsin with FEMA teams, the Republican has decided to file federal disaster aid for 3 counties.

Those counties happen to be Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas. Also included in the request is the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

If the file is approved, the communities affected can qualify for programs that will help cover damage and overall costs that helped fight the flooding as well as protecting the residents.

Although federal aid was filed, Governor Walker stated that no aid will be available for individual home and business owners, due to FEMA deeming the damages as “not severe enough”.

Federal Officials verified more than 8.6 million dollars in public infrastructure damage.
