New Requirements for Minnesota School Buses

Friday, July 27th, 2012 at 8:38 am

As a part of many new laws going into affect in the state next week, one will have to do with our children’s safety on the buses to school.

No they aren’t seat belts, but all newly manufactured school buses are now required to have a protruding crossing arm. You may have already noticed buses with this feature. The crossing arm automatically expands as a bus makes a stop, including red flashing lights that are activated.

Although manufacturers have until January to comply with the requirement, the law will officially be implemented next week, and will not apply to old school buses already used in fleets.
