Portland Elects To Keep Batum, Wolves Still Looking For Upgrades

On Wednesday, the Portland Trailblazers matched the Timberwolves offer to restricted swingman Nic Batum.

Wolves fans had been waiting for more than a week in hopes of landing the versatile young talent, but it wasn’t meant to be. Wolves President of Basketball Operations David Kahn released a statement saying the team was “disappointed” but “will move forward with our other plans.”

Kahn really did his due diligence in trying to land Batum. He approached Portland with several ideas for trades, but ultimately balked at the Blazers reported asking price of several first round picks.

Right now, it’s looking like former Blazer Brandon Roy could be the Wolves starting two guard when the season begins; that’s if Ricky Rubio is healthy.
