Pioneer Report With Gainor… OH NO! CHIGGERS!
Mike Gainor was back in for his regular appearance on WCMP. He tells us that chiggers have been reported at the beach in Pine City. He also touches on other big stories covered in this week’s paper including the terrible accident that killed a Brook Park man on Friday, July 6.

I am hopeful that the patrons of the Pine City beach read the article in the paper so that you may all understand them better. Chiggers are a natural part of the environment and cannot be treated with a chemical or pesticide. They have already come and gone so those visiting the beach should no longer feel the affects of them. They only cycle through once a season. The beach is open from 11am to 8pm Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 1-8pm. See you at the beach!

Thank you Lara! We tried to make light of it a bit at the radio station. If a Minnesotan hasn’t had chiggers or known someone who has, I don’t believe them to be a real Minnesotan. I personally swam at the beach both before, AND after the report. There’s just no better way, living in an non air conditioned home in Pine City, to cool down at night.
My daughter has also been taking swimming lessons daily at the beach as a part of summer rec, and thankfully… NO CHIGGARS!
I would have had more time to expound on how much of a non-issue this really was, but I was too busy reading names on the birthdays and anniversaries this week (A double-congrats to both you and Snuffy for bdays, and for your anniversary)…
I also spend a bit to much time at Voyageur taking about baseball with the gentmen counterpersons.
Jesse Logan loves the Pine City beach.
