Carlton County Flood Damage Numbers Adding Up Quickly

Flood damage from the flood nearly three weeks ago has affected every city and township in Carlton County. While assessors continue add up the totals, the numbers they are reporting are already jaw dropping.

WDIO reports that as of Monday, damage to public infrastructure is estimated at $30 million dollars for the county, with an additional $50-80 million dollars for state-owned infrastructure. Only a third of the county’s 12,500 homes have been assessed, but so far those damages have been have surpassed $19 million dollars. Businesses are seeing more than $2 million dollars worth of damage, while $3 million dollars worth of crops have been knocked down.

Totals are expected to rise as assessors keep working. Experts are telling the residents of Carlton County who have been affected by this disaster that they should expect the rebuilding process could take several years.
