Freedom Fest In Pine City A Success

Monday, July 2nd, 2012 at 7:03 am

Freedom Fest in Pine City was a success this weekend. As the final acts played Sunday night at Praise in the Park, it was clear that many memories had been made from the three day event.

On Saturday morning, WCMP did live broadcasting from the Pine County Fair Grounds. Our Jesse Logan visited with Todd Cummings about the 19th annual Pine Classic Cruiser Car Club Car Show and Jim Sword about Antique Tractor Show. Pine City Chamber Executive Director Becky Schueller was also on hand to encourage people to come out and have a good time.

Jesse Logan even spent an hour in the dunk tank and watched as many future Twins prospects showed off their arms and enjoyed dunking me in the water.

As the day progressed, the 3rd annual Yellow Ribbon Kyak and Canoe paddle event was a success. A total of nine paddlers traveled a distance of two miles up and down the snake river. The smiles assured that they were all enjoying the exercise and the beautiful weather.

Later in the evening, the snake river was packed with boats and the fairgrounds parking lots crowded with cars as people all wanted to see the Community fireworks display. A pre-fourth of July display for the ages, that’s for sure.

Yes, Freedom Fest 2012 was an absolute blast and we would again like to thank all of the local area business that chipped in to make the weekend possible.

The fireworks were great! Just wish there were some deputies helping out with traffic control leaving the area by the fair grounds. Instead they were up town standing there doing nothing. Just a thought for next yr!
