Vikes To Open Minicamp, Greenway To Attend Despite Ailing Father
After last week saw minicamps open up all across the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings are set to open their minicamp today. The Vikes are hoping that LB Chad Greenway will be able to attend. Greenway has been absent from many of the Minnesota Vikings’ Organized Team Activities this spring so he could spend time with his ailing father in South Dakota.
1500ESPN Twin Cities reports that the current plan is for Greenway to be at Winter Park on Tuesday for the opening of the team’s minicamp. Of course, if his father Alan Greenway takes a turn for the worse that could change.
KELO television in Sioux Falls, S.D., reported last week that Alan Greenway is battling cancer and is getting hospice care.
While the three-day minicamp is mandatory Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said last week that if Greenway was not at the minicamp his absence would be considered excused.
Also expected to be in attendance will be Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen, who has not been taking part in the voluntary OTAs and does offseason work on his own.
