18-Year Old Man Drowns In St. Croix
Authorities found the body of an 18-year old swimmer from the St. Croix River near Hudson Monday night.
The teenager from Lake Elmo was swimming with family and friends near the end of Lakefront Park pier around 5 p.m. when he and a few others decided to swim across the channel to the Minnesota side.
Hudson police say the 18-year-old had made it a quarter of the way across when he began struggling and turned around. It was around that time that the man went under.
Murky water and a fast-moving current made the search difficult, but crews recovered the body around 11:45 p.m.
Police Chief Marty Jensen told KSTP that he did not believe alcohol played a role in the incident.
