Kyle Ernst, Assistant Golf Coach of Hermantown High School, has been charged with providing alcohol to minors after the team lost at the state tournament.

The 26-year-old coach was arrested around 3 a.m. on Thursday at the hotel in Shakopee that the team had been staying in. Ernst told officers he had provided alcohol to members of the team for a good time, after his team lost by one stroke in the state tournament. The coach had gone to a liquor store to purchase beer and wine coolers.

Three underaged-drinking tickets were also issued. If convicted of supplying alcohol to a minor (misdemeanor charge), Ernst could face up to 1 year in prison with a $3,000 fine.
