Pine City Fills School Superintendent Role

Friday, June 8th, 2012 at 7:41 am

On Thursday Night, Pine City’s School Board held a Special Meeting to approve a three-year contract for a new school Superintendent: former Crookston School District Superintendent Wayne Gilman.

Gilman was in Crookston for six years, and he will take over now after Dennis Fischer left Pine City for a Superintendent position in Eastern Wyoming.

With his three-year contract in Crookston set to expire June 30 and no new deal in place yet in Crookston, the Crookston Times reported that Gilman began applying for jobs late last winter and was a finalist for superintendent of schools in Delano, Minn. in March but didn’t get that job.

Seventeen people applied for the Pine City superintendent position. In addition to Gilman, other finalists were Jennifer Backer, Rick Linnell and Lee Westrum.
