Alarming Motorcycle Numbers In Minnesota

According to the Department of Public Safety, seven motorcyclists were killed on Minnesota roads in the month of May, bringing the number to 13 total deaths in 2012.

In regards to the alarming statistics, The Department of Public Safety has launched a new campaign this week that will encourage drivers to look more thoroughly for motorcycles on the road. Some reminders include keeping a safe distance from other vehicles, staying at safe speeds as well as checking blind spots and over the shoulder. Motorcyclists in return should always wear helmets and protective gear.

Up to this date last year, the number of motorcycle tragedies had a number of only five. The total number of tragedies in 2011 was 42.
