Siren School Board Sets Special Meeting Thursday Night To Talk About Fire

Thursday, May 31st, 2012 at 6:53 am

It’s looking like Tuesday’s fire at Siren Schools will, for all practical purposes, end the school year in Siren a few days early this year.

A fire broke out in the school’s old gym, and now officials say the gym was destroyed and the entire school has extensive smoke damage.

Classes were originally supposed to end on Friday, but the school, which houses grades kindergarten through 12 is now closed for the year.

WQOW reports that officials believe an electrical malfunction started the fire in a gym closet. School officials will meet with insurance adjusters on Thursday and a special school board meeting is set for Thursday night.
