Two Weeks Remain Until Wisconsin Recalls
Two weeks from today, the eyes of the nation will shift to the state of Wisconsin for the recall election of Governor Scott Walker. Many political pundits believe that outside of the race for the presidency this fall, Walker’s recall could have the biggest political impact of any race in the country. Walker is being recalled for enacting legislation that took on the powerful public sector unions, and did so in an effort to balance budgets to pull his state out of the red. That strategy has enraged many across the state and left Wisconsin divided.
Walker will face off with the same person he beat less than two years ago in the 2010 election: Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. The race is so important because many other states also face major budget challenges and if Walker were to win, it may embolden other conservatives to follow his lead in taking on the unions. Walker has come under heavy fire, and most polls have he and Barrett separated by a slim margin.
Walker isn’t alone in his recall as four republican state senators have also been targeted as has Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch. We will cover that election two weeks from today and have all results and breaking news for you on SAM1057.
