Target Field a hotspot for big events.

The beloved ballpark in downtown Minneapolis will host more than just the Twins in the next few years.

It was recently announced by the Big Ten Conference that Target field will be the site of the 2013 Big Ten Tournament, which will be the first Major League Baseball facility to host the event.

The gophers have played a couple of their regular season games in the big ballpark, but the stakes will be higher the next time the U plays there.

Additionally, Target Field may be announced as the site of the 2014 All-Star game. The expectations come after the New York Mets were chosen to host the festivities for 2013.

Plans for the Mets to host next year started in 2009 after the newly built Citi Field stadium was finished. The Twins remain hopeful that their turn is next.
