Recall Effort Against Wis. Sen Jauch Suspended
A committee working to recall a northern Wisconsin senator has suspended its efforts.
A committee had formed to recall Sen. Bob Jauch, a Poplar Democrat, to punish him for opposing a bill that would have jump started an iron mine south of Ashland.
The committee has until May 18 to collect the 15,720 signatures it would need to force Jauch into an election. Citizens for Responsible Government Network, which works to elect conservative candidates, has been helping the committee.
The group issued a statement on the committee’s behalf Friday saying the recall has been suspended. The statement said people are focused on recalls involving Republican Gov. Scott Walker and volunteers are spread thin.
The effort could resume later this summer.
