Morneau Headed To Disabled List

Sunday, May 6th, 2012 at 10:18 am

Minnesota Twins designated hitter Justin Morneau is headed to the 15-day disabled list on Monday because of a sore left wrist.

Morneau was taken out of Monday’s game because of the wrist that he had surgically repaired in the off-season. He flew to Minnesota on Tuesday to have an MRI exam. The exam showed no structural damage, but Morneau has yet to play again.

He is expected to meet with Twins specialist Dr. Tom Varecka when the team returns to Minnesota. The Twins will add 24-year-old shortstop prospect Brian Dozier to the roster on Monday.

Morneau’s stint on the disabled list will be retroactive to May 1.

Justin is hitting .230 with four home runs and nine RBI this season.
