A Pine City woman is charged with shoplifting after allegedly stealing from a Forest Lake Menards store and getting caught in a swamp.

Police told KSTP say they received a call from the Menards on Everton Avenue North around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, about a shoplifting in progress. They were told the woman was running from the store and being chased by employees.

Once they got there, an employee pointed police to a swamp near the parking lot where police found 52-year-old Judy Lynn Anderson of Pine City. According to the criminal complaint, she was standing in the swamp with another employee nearby.

The employee told police that Anderson and another man walked into the store and went to the copper fittings section. The defendant is accused of stealing a pipe cutter, a knife, and five copper fittings.

Anderson faces one count of possessing shoplifting gear and one count of theft.
