Schminkey Placed 4th At State Speech, To Be Heard On WCMP

Pine City High School’s Renee Schminkey placed fourth at the Class A State Speech Tournament on Friday, April 20 at Chanhassen High School in the category of creative expression.

Schminkey, a senior, performed an original piece called, “You’re Not Actually Funny”. Over a hundred Minnesota schools were represented at the state speech tournament this year.

Her speech will be heard on Wednesday, May 2 on WCMP FM 100.9 at 7:35 a.m. and on WCMP AM 1350 at both 9:40 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

    Congrats to Renee and the entire Dragon Speech team on a successful season. And a special thanks to WCMP for airing this speech on air. These kids are fantastically gifted and hard-working and it’s great that they can be recognized for their talents.

    I also wish to congratulate Renee. I’m so proud that Pine City kids continue to excel in these kinds of activities, such rich experiences that carry lifelong benefit.
