Would-Be Walker Challengers To Gather For Public Meeting Monday
The four major Democratic candidates running to face Gov. Scott Walker in the spring recall election will be in Racine Monday evening for a public meeting.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, Secretary of State Doug La Follette, and state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout are expected at the town hall at the George Bray Community Center.
Associated Press reports that people attending will have a chance to ask questions and then each candidate will have a minute to answer.
The meeting is meant to allow extra access to the potential candidates and to allow them to express their positions on key issues.
Meanwhile, Gov. Walker touted his plans over the weekend saying that his administration’s fiscal reforms have saved the state one billion dollars. Walker released a statement calling the one billion saved a “significant milestone of documented savings for the taxpayers.”
Walker also said school districts that reported competitively bidding out their health insurance plan saved $220 saved per pupil per year on average.
