30-Pound Invasive Carp Caught On St. Croix River

Saturday, April 21st, 2012 at 9:59 am

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reporting that a fisherman caught a 30-pound bighead carp at the mouth of the St. Croix River near Prescott, Wisconsin.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that about a dozen bighead and silver carp have been caught in the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers since 1996.

State officials are trying to come up with a solution to the increasing number of invasive Asian carp in local waters that could harm the natural environment.
