Busy Basball Night On Tuesday In Both Pros, High School

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 at 12:22 pm

It’s going to be a busy night in baseball on Tuesday evening with action at the Major League level and lots of high school games going on around the listening area.

We’ll start off with the second game of the Twins four-game series against the hated Yankees. Minnesota got a big win Monday night 7-3 in New York and enjoyed the return to first base of Justin Morneau, who homered in the game and continues to show signs of improvement. The Twins will have an arduous task tonight though as they take on the elite hurler CC Sabathia for the Yankees. Minnesota will need a big effort from starting pitcher Francisco Liriano, who has been touched up in his two appearances so far this season as he’s allowed 15 hits and 10 earned runs in just nine innings of action. The first pitch from Liriano will be delivered at 6:05 tonight and you can hear it on 100.9 Cool Country.

In the high school ranks, a plethora of intriguing matchups are on the slate in both boys baseball and girls softball this evening. The Pine City Dragons will be at Rush City to face the Tigers in both sports. Hinckley/Finlayson will host Braham in both sports and both Mora’s boys and girls will be in Milaca to square off with the Wolves in key early season Granite Ridge Conference action. Cambridge Isanti’s baseball and softball teams will both host Monticello, and North Branch’s team are also both in action today, the Vikings baseball team hosting Totino Grace and the softball team at St. Louis Park.

Listen in tomorrow morning and we’ll hopefully have scores to report.
