On Thursday night on SAM1057 the Grantsburg Pirates baseball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 13-10 win over the Unity Eagles.

Grantsburg provided a big cushion for starting pitcher Jacob Glover, by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. The seven-run inning was capped off with a three-run triple by Carl Palmquist. Palmquist also scored on the triple after a throwing error at third base.

Grantsburg never trailed after that, scoring two runs each in the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings. Offensively the Pirates were led by the Ryan brothers Brandon and Bryce. Brandon had two singles and scored twice and Bryce walked once, double twice, and also scored twice in the win.

Starting pitcher Jacob Glover was able to keep the lead for six innings before Seth Coy came in to close the game in the 7th.

Grantsburg’s girls had an explosive outing against the Unity Eagles on Thursday as well, wrapping up play in just over an hour and winning 14-0. The girls have been dominant in their 3-0 start this season outscoring their opponents 39-1. The Girls will be at Hayward on Saturday.
