Musician John Mellencamp Tells Gov. Walker Not To Use “Small Town” Song On Campaign Trail

Gov. Scott Walker is going to be running against someone this spring in a recall election, and although we don’t know who his opponent will be, today we learned about a big name musician who won’t be supporting Walker, even though the Gov has used his music to promote the Governor’s agenda. John Mellencamp wants Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to know that he supports collective bargaining and union rights and Walker should know that before using his song “Small Town” on the campaign trail.

Mellencamp’s publicist told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Mellencamp wanted him to reach out to Walker not to ask him to stop using the song, but to inform him of his liberal beliefs.

The publicist told the Associated Press that it is a standing policy of Mellencamp’s to not allow politicians to use his songs. Apparently Mellencamp became aware Walker was using “Small Town” after reading a news story about a campaign stop Tuesday in Milwaukee.
