A 17-year-old male student at Barnum High School may end up facing charges after allegedly assaulting a teacher. Apparently the teacher was assaulted after asking the student to remove his headphones.

WDIO reports the incident happened Friday morning. The teacher, Richard Bird, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, where he was treated and released for injuries sustained in the assault.

The student was taken to the Arrowhead Juvenile Center in Duluth. He faces a possible charge of assault, but as a minor his name is not being released.

Carlton County Sheriff’s deputies, Barnum Fire Department/First Responders, and Mercy Ambulance responded to the school.
