Is the girls’ basketball playoff game canceled?

  2. Shame on you Pine County 03/1/12 at 8:23am

Winter storms are a part of our daily lives that we all have learned to deal with here in Minnesota. So knowing that the Boys Hockey Tournament hasn’t started yet (usually the first sign of at least one more good snow storm)and the Boys Basketball Tournament(another sign), I was completely prepared for the big snow storm on Tuesday night. What became painfully obvious to me on Wednesday night was how Pine County wasn’t. From the crossroads on Hwy 61 and State Hwy 70 north through Pine City, the Highway was AWFUL. Have you guys even tried to clear the roads ??? I was driving at a snails pace because of the sloppy road conditions and almost hit another car head on because of the conditions. After stewing about it for 8 hours at work, I learned the hard way that NOTHING has changed. From State Hwy 23 south to Beroun, the roads were awful. I had to drive on the opposite side of the road for nearly 4 miles just to find decent road conditions. You must have a driver who wanted to work this morning because from Beroun to Pine City, the roads were cleared nicely. The City of Pine City wasn’t much better (they were working on side streets instead to Hwy 61 which is the major thru fare in town). THEN I had to venture south again and unfortunately, I learned the hard way that Pine County still hadn’t done anything with that part of the Highway. Everybody I talked to at work last night said pretty much the same thing. Roads coming in from Chisago or Kanabec Counties were plowed nicely to the Pine County line, then you took your life into your own hands driving through our county. There should be no excuses. The storm has been over since yesterday afternoon. Get out there and make our Highways safe to drive on….Take a little pride in your work !!!

I fully agree with “Shame on You” The roads were still horrible and down right dangerous at 9pm. Pine County completely failed!!
