High School Hockey Playoffs Kick Into High Gear

High school hockey playoffs kick into high gear Tuesday night with several teams from our listening area competing. In fact, we’ve got the Pine City/Rush City Dragons game on our broadcast schedule tonight on 1350 AM at 7pm.

The Dragons will look to avenge one of their worst losses of the season when they travel to Princeton to face off with the Tigers. Princeton beat the Dragons 15-3 back at the beginning of January, but it’s a new season now that the playoffs are starting. Join Josh Miggler for the action tonight at 7pm on WCMP AM.

Other hockey playoff games tonight we’ll be keeping an eye on in Section 5A include North Branch at Legacy Christian and Moose Lake Area at Mora/Hinckely Finlayson. In Section 7 Class 2A, Forrest Lake will take on Grand Rapids.

The Burnett Blizzard have a chance to make some waves tonight on the ice at Wessman Arena. Blizz fans couldn’t help but feel a little slighted with their seeding for the WIAA playoffs, but after crushing Menomonie last week, tonight they can send a clear message against Superior.

This is the third time in the past four years that the Blizz and Spartans will meet in the tournament. The Spartans have done a number on the Blizz each of the past two times the teams have met in the postseason, outscoring them 16-2. Still, fans of the Blizz boys hockey team are optimistic that tonight’s outcome could be different. Should they win, we would cover their next game this weekend on SAM 1057.
