Pine City 42 @ Siren 81

Tuesday night WXCX continued our coverage of high school sports with a battle of Dragons! The Pine City boys basketball team traveled to Wisconsin to take on Siren. The Siren Dragons were just too much for Pine City to handle, as Siren won 81-42.

At the end of the first quarter Pine City was within striking distance, only down by eight points, 16-8. In the second quarter Siren turned on the heat though, thanks in part to red hot shooting from Elijah Hinze. Hinze scored 21 of his 23 points in the first half. As a team Siren scored 31 points in the second quarter and only gave up 10 to Pine City. At the half it was Siren on top 47-18.

In the third quarter both teams struggled to score and at the end of three it was 60-27. Siren added 21 points in the fourth quarter on their way to the win, 81-42.

Siren is now 20-0 on the season with two games remaining. Friday night is Senior Night in Siren against Prairie Farm. The seniors almost certainly will put on a show in their final home game.

Elijah Hinze led all Siren Dragons will 23 points, Murdock Smith had 19, David St. John put up 14 points off the bench, and Andrew Brown added 12 points for Siren.
