Wisconsin teacher arrested and accused of sexual assault.

Deputies arrested 30-year-old Andrea Ebert of Cameron, Friday afternoon at the middle school she works at. She is facing accusations of sexually assaulting a student. She is not charged, but the Barron County Sheriff’s Department told WEAU-News that she’ll be in court on Monday. Investigators say Ebert works at Rice Lake Middle School.

Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said a concerned citizen tipped them off about the crime and since then they’ve been investigating.

“Our detectives, along with the Rice Lake Police Department’s Detective, started working the case Wednesday night and Thursday morning. They were able to gather information from talking to different sources that led to talking with several students and that led to the arrest,” Sheriff Fitzgerald told WEAU.

He also said that none of the incidents appear to have happened on school grounds.

“It’s multiple occurrences and talking with the school staff it’s not a middle school child. There was some assumption out there that there was a middle school child involved. There wasn’t an elementary or middle school child involved in this case. ” Fitzgerald said.

He said it’s never easy for officers to deal with a case like this.

“Any sex case is tough. You really have to go back to a lot of them result in consensual or not consensual and it doesn’t matter when they’re juveniles. What matters is we take care of the victims first and stop the behavior and that’s what we did today,” says Sheriff Fitzgerald.
