Wasburn County Man Killed In Snowmobile Accident

A 24-year-old man was killed while riding his snowmobile in Washburn County on Sunday night.

According to the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Anderson, 24, of Sarona, Wis. was driving the sled and had a six-year-old female passenger when he failed to make a corner, hit a barbed wire fence and crashed into some trees. The accident happened in Madge Township around 4 p.m. on Sunday night.

Washburn Co. Sheriff’s Deputies and a warden from the Wisconsin DNR responded to the scene.

Anderson was transported to the Shell Lake Hospital, but died en route.

The girl was brought to Duluth’s Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center and was listed as in stable condition on Monday.

The accident is under investigation by the Wisconsin DNR.
