The Nation Focusing On Iowa Caucus Tonight

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 at 1:22 pm

The eyes of the nation will be on the state of Iowa this evening as the Iowa caucus commences. Tonight is just the first step in the long line of caucuses and primaries that will ultimately decide who the Republicans will nominate as the Republican candidate to take on President Barack Obama in the general election this fall.

Polls have been all over the place, and it seems like no single candidate has really separated himself from the pack as we head into the evening. Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are likely considered the narrow frontrunners although pundits say Rick Santorum is surging late and Ron Paul has a major ground game with ardent supporters.

Rick Perry and Minnesota congresswoman Michelle Bachmann have smaller contingents, but could draw enough votes to impact the winner. It’s going to be an interesting night.
