Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs Encouraging Safety Courses
It’s only a matter of time before Wisconsin and Minnesota are covered in snow, and that means people will be out enjoying it. A Wisconsin group is encouraging snowmobilers to take safety courses before they hit the snow this year.
According to the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs, the number of snowmobiles registered in Wisconsin last year increased 5 percent and snowmobilers increased their mileage by 10 percent.
In an interview with the AP, Association President Doug Johnson said an increase in snowmobilers and miles means a potential for more accidents.
Safety coursed teach basic safety, responsibilities, ethics, laws and mechanical functions.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has a listing of upcoming snowmobile classes on its website.
