Armed Robbery Foiled In Menomonie

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011 at 8:20 am

On Wednesday, we reported an attempted break in in Chippewa County, where three armed men in masked were chased off by a vigilant home owner.

That scenario very closely mirrors another incident that happened in a home in Menomonie on Wednenesday morning where three armed men wearing dark masks forced their way into a residence around 3 a.m. Police say several people inside the home were awake at the time and took action against the invaders.

During a scuffle, two of the suspects were injured. One of them was arrested at the scene and was taken to a hospital. The other two fled the scene and have not been found. WEAU reports that two of the suspect’s firearms used in the home invasion were secured by officers. All victims and witnesses involved are being interviewed by investigators.

Police say the incident is considered not to be a random act and is believed to be gang related.

No word yet on if these two incidents are believed to be perpetuated by the same suspects.
