A Kanabec County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

According to the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a suspected drunk driver Sunday morning at about 2am. Deputies located the vehicle matching the caller’s description and discovered the driver passed out at the wheel with the vehicle in gear.

The driver of the car, 34-year-old Joel Christian Bos, was arrested. Bos is the Chief Deputy in Kanabec County and has been with the department for 11 years. Bos performed a breathalyzer test, but the Isanti County Sheriff’s Department didn’t release information on his blood alcohol level.

Bos was booked at the Isanti County Jail.

Authorities with Kanabec County say Bos was put on administrative leave.
