Wisconsin Woman Gets Large Sum Of Unclaimed Money
A Wisconsin woman got an early Christmas present in the form of unclaimed money last week.
The 81-year-old La Crosse woman received nearly $244,000 in unclaimed money from the state last week.
According to The La Crosse Tribune, the woman didn’t realize her husband owned a number of municipal bond, which went to the state after he died. State treasury spokesman Ron Giordan says the treasury office contacted the woman because of the large sum of money. Giordan also said that the state currently has about $403 million in unclaimed assets, but most of those are smaller claims.
