A 32-year-old man is being charged with murder and manslaughter after a fatal fight outside a Proctor bar.

Paul Welle was charged Tuesday in St. Louis County District Court with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter.

As we reported earlier, Welle is charged in the death of 60-year-old Dale Anderson of Blaine. Anderson died Nov. 9, three days after he was found lying on the ground outside the Powerhouse bar.

The Duluth News Tribune reports a witness said Welle was pressuring a woman to leave the bar with him, and Anderson told him to leave the woman alone.

According to the complaint, Welle told investigators Anderson hit him twice and he responded by hitting Anderson in the face.

Welle remains jailed with bail set at $400,000. His attorney says Welle threw one punch with a horrible result.
