Big Border Battle Weekend

Thursday, November 10th, 2011 at 7:10 am

This weekend, it’s quadruple dip of border battle action with teams from Minnesota facing off with team’s from Wisconsin in some very big games. First off, the Golden Gophers Hockey team looks to take it’s #1 ranking and it’s 9-1 record on the road to the Kohl center for back-to-back hockey games against the Badgers. Minnesota’s team has been skating very well this season for coach Don Lucia, and red hot goalie Kent Patterson will look to shut down Wisconsin’s attack both Friday and Saturday night.

Then, those same two schools will square off on the gridiron on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium as the Badgers bring their high flying offense into Minnesota to face a Gophers team that has really been improving of late. Two weeks ago the Gophers got a big win over Iowa, and last week they had a momentum building loss at East Lansing against Michigan State. Most people give the Gophers little chance to compete against the likes of QB Russel WIlson, RB Monte Ball and WR Nick Toon, but Paul Bunyan’s axe is at stake, and coach Jerry Kill will use that axe as extra motivation to try to help his team change it’s mentality.

Finally, folks from both Minnesota and Wisconsin will be glued to their couches on Monday night to watch the World Champion Green Bay Packers host the Minnesota Vikings for Monday Night Football. The Packers are red hot, with QB Aaron Rodgers playing at an MVP level. The Vikings have an impressive rookie under center in Christian Ponder, but will need to try to slow the Packers offense in order to keep this game interesting.

Whether you live in MN or WI… enjoy the action!
