PCHS Media Center To Host Scholastic Book Fair, Nov. 15-17

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 at 5:40 am

Pine City High School Media Center will host a special Book Fair from Scholastic on November 15 and 17 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Multi Purpose Room during Parent Teacher Conferences and on November 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the PCHS Media Center to help raise funds for adding to their book collection.

The book fair will feature a wide range of books for young teens and adults, including mystery and adventure novels, fantasy trilogies, sports guides, manga, and the latest bestsellers from more than 150 publishers. Parents, children, teachers, and the community are invited to attend. Online ordering is available through the PCPS home page Book Fair link.

This year, one of the goals is to put more books into the hands of students and on the shelves of classroom libraries. All of the money collected from this program goes directly to purchasing more books for the local Toys for Tots program. Scholastic will match monetary donations raised with a donation of up to one million books to three non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids and families in need. They include the Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., the Kids In Need Foundation, and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Media Center student volunteers and community volunteers will help run the fair. From creating special promotions and merchandising displays to managing inventory and assisting shoppers with their selections, students will learn real life skills while helping to make reading for pleasure a cool activity at their school.

Please stop by the Book Fair or visit the online store.
