Over 20,000 Concealed Carry Applications Filed In Wisconsin
Over 20,000 applications to carry concealed handguns have been turned into the Wisconsin Department of Justice since the new state law took effect on Tuesday.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that data from the state Justice Department show that as of Friday afternoon, 879 licenses have been approved and 117 were rejected.
Agency spokeswoman Dana Brueck told the AP that incomplete applicant data, insufficient training documentation or a missing payment are reasons an applicant can be denied.
State officials anticipate that as many as 200,000 applications could be submitted in the first few months.
