Wisconsin’s Concealed Carry Law To Take Effect This Week
Wisconsin’s concealed carry law takes effect this week, but officials say packing heat in public won’t be easy. Lambeau Field won’t allow guns. Neither will your local high school. If you plan on drinking alcohol at your local bar, leave your weapon in the car.
Still, Wisconsinites can start applying to the state for concealed carry licenses on Tuesday.
Forty-eight other states already allow concealed weapons. The Wisconsin law bars concealed carry in a number of settings, however, including schools, police stations, courthouses and beyond airport security checkpoints. Business owners who don’t want concealed weapons in their buildings can post signs warning people to keep them out.
Officials say it will take several weeks, at least, before the first permit is issued.
