Free Grant Writing Workshop Wednesday, October 5

Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at 7:13 am

Anyone interested in learning more about grant writing is invited to attend a free workshop on Wednesday, October 5 from 6:00 to 8:30pm at the Pine Technical College Auditorium.

The workshop is presented by the Greater Pine Area Endowment (GPAE) and the Initiative Foundation. The workshop will help with essential grant-writing skills, how to connect with funders, distill a proposal, and avoid common mistakes.

Katrina Pierson, senior associate with HBH Consultants, will facilitate the workshop as GPAE representatives offer tips and answer questions about their grant priorities.

After the main session, Initiative Foundation staff will also lead a discussion on what it means to be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The discussion will help teach participants:

  • why – and exactly who – qualifies for grants
  • what makes 501(c)3s different from other nonprofits, business associations and community groups
  • what general legal and tax rules affect 501(c)3s
  • how to – and if you should – become a 501(c)3 and alternative options.

Deadline for registration is October 3rd. Online registrations are being accepted at: For more information, or to register via phone, contact Becky Schueller at 320-322-4040.
