A Cambridge man is in police custody after pointing a gun at officers on Thursday night.

According to a police report, the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suicidal man with a gun on Thursday night in Cambridge. When authorities arrived on the scene they spotted the man, Ricky Alan Geving, in a trailer with a gun in his hand.

Geving was on the phone with the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office at the time and told them he would shoot any officer that tried to come to the door. The authorities backed off and Geving came out of the trailer with a gun.

Authorities ordered Geving to drop the gun. Geving refused and pointed his rifle at officers on the scene. An officer responded by firing two rounds at Geving, who took cover behind a squad car.

Geving eventually surrendered to police without anyone getting injured. He is expected to appear in Isanti County Court on Monday, and criminal charges are pending.
