Wild Two-State Car Chase Ends In Chisago County

A wild chase happened along the southern edge of the listening area last night and now a man who told police he was high on meth is locked up the Chisago County Jail. The chase ended up going through portions of both Minnesota and Wisconsin, and went on for more than an hour before the driver lost control of his car in Lino Lakes and crashed into the median.

Police said the chase started in Wisconsin as the driver, who police have since identified as 31-year-old Justin Patrick, was a suspect in a home invasion and stalking incident in Amery, Wis. that happened earlier in the day.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Forest Lake Police, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol tried to stop the vehicle when it came across the border on Highway 8 to I-35, but it didn’t slow down. Police estimated that, at one point, he was traveling more than 100 miles per hour.

Officers told WCCO that they put down many stops sticks, which they know Patrick hit, because he drove on the rims of the car for a long time.

Upon crashing, officals say Patrick didn’t resist arrest, but told police he was high on meth and WCCO also reports that he was subsequently taken to Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, Minn.

Patrick will likely face charges in both Minnesota and in Wisconsin.
