Former Wisconsin Gov. Thompson To Run For Senate
Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson has taken another step toward a run for the U.S. Senate.
On Monday, Thompson confirmed that he has filed documents to incorporate his Senate campaign committee, a move which allows him to raise money and build his organization.
Thompson, speaking on WTMJ radio, said he’ll make a formal announcement soon.
Some Republicans are concerned Thompson will become part of a crowded competition with new-wave conservatives for the seat opened up by veteran Democrat Herb Kohl’s retirement.
Thompson calls himself “the original conservative.”
