$500,000 Bail Set for Fattal, Bauer
Bail has been set for the two American men imprisoned in Iran. Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal were arrested more than two years ago on spy-related charges. Last month, the pair was sentenced to three years for illegal entry into Iran and five years for spying for the United States.
However, this morning an Iranian court has set a bail of $500,000. This is the same bail that was set for the third member of their group who was released last year, Sarah Shourd. Shroud was released one year ago tomorrow (September 14).
The lawyer in the case said they would begin the process to free Fattal and Bauer after the bail had been paid. The money will have to be arranged by a third party because of U.S. economic sanctions on Iran.
