Wisconsin’s Primary Dates Could Be Changing For 2012 Elections
The dates of Wisconsin’s presidential election would change under a bill taken up by the state Assembly earlier this week.
The bill calls for moving the presidential primary from the third Tuesday in February to the first Tuesday in April, the same date as the state’s spring election.
The measure has already passed the Senate.
The national Republican and Democratic parties requested the presidential primary changes in an effort to avoid front-loading state primaries. A number of other states are pushing back their primaries as well. Those moves will likely mean that Wisconsin’s election will be in the middle of the national primary schedule.
